Hello and welcome to your new proactive approach to property management!

Proactiv’s journey started in 2007 when I chose to join the Property Management Industry on the instruction from Robert Kiyasaki’s “Rich Dad Series”. Where he said to be a good investor you had to be a good manager.

I had just immigrated to Australia from England where I had been running pubs/clubs and restaurants for a national hospitality company for last 4 years.

Over the next 5 years my journey would be part of an extensive research project of the industry. My research would teach me that approximately 95% of traditional real estate companies are run by Sales focused directors and that they do not want to be involved in the property management side of the business for its constant daily negative problems affect the sales process.

The results showed me that our industry could easily be illustrated as a tricycle. Each wheel of the tricycle has many spokes that all have to function to move ahead. The wheels consisted of::

Property Management
Landlord Management
Tenant Management

And because of the non-existence leadership examples in the industry, accompanied with the added overloading of properties on managers, the industry had inadvertently become largely reactive. Most agencies focused only on the Property Management wheel and have no time left for the other two, creating one wobbly Unicycle.

With Proactiv being a 100% online company, we utilise the latest technology and software to manage the Property, Landlord and Tenant wheel. This allows our properties to be well looked after and our Landlords and Tenants to feel loved with our Effective and Efficient communication tools.

I’m going to be honest – I’m not a big fan of REAs. I did not sign my lease through them but my tenancy was transferred to Meadows Partners a few months in during which Charl made a time to see me so I knew what was going on. I was a bit taken aback at first, as I never had REAs who actually came for inspections every 3 months – they did provide notice and were always very friendly (and understanding when the flat was a mess during exam season). Move out process (although never a breeze) went as smoothly as I could ever expect.
